Top Questions

COMMON QUESTIONS

Which UK network has the widest coverage in 2026?
+
EE is consistently reported as having the widest UK 4G population coverage — estimated ~97%. This includes strong rural coverage. O2 (~92%), Vodafone (~90%), Three (~85%) follow. Population figures don't guarantee signal at your address. Always check each provider's postcode checker directly on their official website before committing to any plan.
How do I keep my number when switching networks?
+
Text "PAC" to 65075. Ofcom rules require your provider to send the PAC code by text within 60 seconds — completely free. Give this PAC to your new provider when signing up. The number transfer typically completes within one working day. PAC codes are valid for 30 days. You do NOT need to contact your old provider separately to cancel.
What is the difference between an MNO and an MVNO?
+
An MNO (Mobile Network Operator) owns and operates its own physical mobile network infrastructure. The four UK MNOs are EE, O2, Three, and Vodafone. An MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) sells mobile services using an MNO's infrastructure under a wholesale agreement — examples: Tesco Mobile (O2), BT Mobile (EE), Sky Mobile (O2), giffgaff (O2). MVNOs can offer competitive pricing but their roaming terms may differ from the host MNO.
What happened to free EU roaming after Brexit?
+
Since January 2021, UK mobile operators are no longer legally required to include free EU roaming. Each operator now sets its own policy. Some charge a daily roaming pass fee, some include certain EU destinations in certain plans. Always check your specific provider's current roaming terms before travelling internationally — policies change frequently.
